Canadian Pacific (C.P.)
By 1946, CANADIAN PACIFIC (C.P.) was more than transcontinental railway tracks, hotels and telegraph wires. C.P. tapped into a worldwide telegraph communications network, took flight with its newly consolidated airlines, and offered world cruises on its ocean liners; something it had been doing for 55 years. More prominently than before, C.P. reintroduced the beaver atop the shield. To reflect the times the slogan changed to “SPANS THE WORLD”. Throughout the fifties, the beaver shield appeared on all CANADIAN PACIFIC vehicles in a more simplified form, although passenger steam locomotives and timetables continued to carry this shield until 1960.
