Massey Harris
Industry leaders in the production of farm implements, The Massey Mfg. Co. and A. Harris & Son Co. Ltd., merged to form The Massey-Harris Company in Toronto Canada in 1891. After purchasing J.I. Case Plow Works, the producer of the well known Wallis, they were thrust into the tractor business in 1928. The 1929 introduction of the 12-20 Model tractor led to the development of the “Pacemaker” produced in 1936 followed by the “Challenger” their first row-crop tractor; both of which were available on steel or with rubber tires. Massey-Harris continued to produce a popular line of tractors in several different models through to the merger with Harry Ferguson in 1953.
